"Lawton's"
is a one bedroom, one bathroom cottage with an 8' X 16" screened
porch, and is located on the corner of Lawton
Lane and historic Howard Street in the heart of Ocracoke
village. |
|
Howard
Street, established in 1835, looks much as it has for many years.
Older island homes, family cemeteries, and moss-covered wooden fences
add to the charm of this area of the village.
|
|
Lawton's is off
the beaten path, but centrally located near shops, restaurants,
Silver Lake Harbor and the Ocracoke Lighthouse.
|

|
From
the traditional swing or rocker on Lawton's screened front porch you can
enjoy an early morning cup of coffee, or relax with your favorite book
after a day at the beach.
|

|
This
cottage has central heat and air conditioning, making it a comfortable
rental home year 'round. Telephone, cable TV, VCR, & DVD player will
add to your vacation enjoyment.
Washer
& Dryer are also included.

|
|
Although
Lawton's is available only for one or two people, the dining room &
living room are large enough to accommodate guests for dinner and an
evening's entertainment. |
|
The
kitchen in this cottage includes everything you will need for a
comfortable stay.
|

|
This
one-bedroom cottage with queen bed is perfect for couples. The bathroom
was completely remodeled in 2004.

From
our Guestbook:
"We
had a lovely time & enjoyed this superb home. This was our sixth trip
to Ocracoke but our first time staying at the Lawton Howard home -- it's the
best house of the four we've stayed in -- very spacious, comfortable, [&
with] easy access to all things on historic Howard Street."
"We
love it here. The house was very nice & comfortable, & quiet at
night."
"My
first trip to Ocracoke! It is like no place I have ever been before.
Especially appreciated the history of Howard Street, Lawton's stories, and your
cozy home. You thought of everything -- nothing missing! A real
treat -- we hated to leave."
Lawton Howard
(1911-2002) was a delightful native islander. To read more about him click here. |
