To help you enjoy your visit to Ocracoke, Village Craftsmen maintains this page of island activities.  However we do not guarantee the accuracy of this information.  Please contact the individuals or organizations directly for the latest and most accurate dates and times.

Off-Season Activities: 

Not much activity on the island in the off-season!  (That's the way we like it.)  However, if you are visiting the island you may discover some community events by checking the bulletin board in the Post Office.

Weekly Activities (mostly year-round):

AA: Monday 7:30 p.m. at the Library; Friday 7:30 p.m. at the Firehouse

Ocracoke Assembly of God:  Sunday School 10:00 a.m.; Worship 11:00 a.m., Evening Services Sunday and Wednesday 7:30 p.m.

Ocracoke United Methodist Church:  Early Service 7:00 a.m. (Easter through Thanksgiving); Sunday School 9:45 a.m., Morning Worship 11:00 a.m.

Our Lady of the Seas Roman Catholic Parish:  Mass 7:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church Rec. Hall, year round

Summer Activities (more will be added as we learn of them):

Ocracoke Folk Festival and Howard Street Craft Fair:  Saturday and Sunday, June 5th and 6th, 2004.  Click here for more information.

July 4 Activities (projected):

9 am -- Flag Raising Ceremony (School Circle)

9:30 am - Noon --27thAnnual Sand Sculpture Contest (NPS Lifeguard beach)

10 am - 1 pm -- Ocracoke Pony Pen (behind Ocracoke Preservation Society Museum.  Bring the kids to see the ponies up close.)

10 am - 2 pm -- Ocracoke Lighthouse open for public viewing.

10:30 am -- Sky Diving Demonstration (Pony Island Motel lawn)

1:30 pm -- Ben "Blackbeard" Cherry, Ocracoke's favorite pirate tells stories under the trees (Pony Island Motel)

3 pm -- Old-time Ocracoke Parade

9 pm -- Fireworks (at the old Ocracoke Coast Guard Station)

Please note: Personal Fireworks are Illegal on Ocracoke.

Deepwater Theater (Scheduled June through October on School Road.  Door opens at 7:30 p.m., all shows 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., Adults $12, Children $6): 

 Wednesdays: Ocrafolk Opry
-- Features appearances by many island performers           including Martin Garrish, Molasses Creek, Roy Parsons, Ivey Belch, Sundae Horn and more! 

Thursdays: Molasses Creek with Special Guests.
