Blanket Creek Pottery

Blanket Creek Pottery is handcrafted from high-fired clay body formulated specifically for utilitarian purposes.  It took several years to develop this unique clay formula which combines the most desirable qualities of both stoneware and porcelain and withstands the rigors of production potting as well as it does throughout years of functional use, while at the same time adding depth of color to the glazed surface.  The glazes are made from readily available materials as simple as wood ash, limestone and clay dug from the ground right outside the studio, and they are fired in a waste-oil burning kiln that uses oil reclaimed mostly from the food industry.

This pottery is as much about resourcefulness and improvisation as it is about creativity and craft-turning some of the most common materials, generally seen as having little or no value, into something as practical as it is precious, finding its place equally well in everyday use as it does as a unique and memorable gift.

Baking ware should not be subjected to drastic temperature changes such as from a refrigerator to a hot oven.  For best results place in oven at room temperature without pre-heating.  If a microwave must be used, it should be put on a lower power setting for a more gradual heat up and the pottery should not be taken directly from a refrigerator

A note about colors:  Although all pieces are available in Green/Ash and Amber/Blue, your selection(s) may not always be immediately available.  We will contact you promptly if your items are not currently in stock.
