About Us 

Village Craftsmen was established in August of 1970.  Since that time we have grown slowly while maintaining our sense of purpose and place.  We always enjoy meeting our customers in our thriving retail gallery on Ocracoke Island, but we realize that not everyone can make it out to see us. We hope this web site will aid your search for quality handcrafts. We represent over 300 US craftsmen and craftswomen.

We have many more items in our retail gallery which is located  in Ocracoke Village. 

Nestled around Silver Lake Harbor, Ocracoke is situated on the southern end of Ocracoke Island which is part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Howard Street

Village Craftsmen is located on picturesque, unpaved Howard Street, amidst ancient gnarled live oak trees and old family cemeteries.

Hours of Operation

Internet Orders: Shipping Monday - Friday, Year 'Round; Weather Permitting. 

There will be No Shipments of Mail Orders on Saturdays, Sundays, July 4, Thankgiving Day & select days in December and January. 
  

Normal operating hours for our retail gallery are as follows (these may change without notice; please contact us for latest information):

Mid March - April:  Open Tuesday through Sunday 10am to 4pm, Sunday 10am to 2pm

May through Mid-September:  Open Monday through Saturday 10am to 6pm, Sunday 10am to 2pm

Mid-September through October 31st:  Open everyday 10am to 5pm

November & December: Open Tuesday through Sunday, 10am to 4pm

Closed:  July 4th, Thanksgiving Day, Dec. 23, 24, 25, 27, 28 & Jan. 1 - mid-March
